Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport to formalise innovation hub as an association

The Innovationsflughafen PAD initiative at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport is to be organised as a registered association, giving it a binding framework to launch technology projects. It has also agreed a partnership with the airport technology network GATE.

The Innovationsflughafen PAD initiative at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport will be organised as an association in future. According to the initiative, the change is meant to create a binding organisational framework and to launch new projects with market potential.

Companies and other members are to be able to test technologies and processes in the airport environment and make contact with application partners. At the 15th Forum Innovationsflughafen PAD, the initiative also agreed a cooperation with GATE - The Airport Technology Network, which represents more than 120 members from the airport sector in Europe. Together they intend to identify, develop and test technologies.

Five organisations have backed the initiative so far: Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport, the district of Paderborn, the University of Paderborn, the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Systems Design in Paderborn, and the company Heggemann.
