Poland's central airport completes test piling for passenger terminal

Test piling for the passenger terminal at Poland's new central airport is done. The project says 94 test and anchor piles were installed and are now being load tested, after which main foundation work begins.

The terminal will need more than 8,000 piles and columns, ranging from nine to 30 metres long and reaching more than 140 kilometres in total. Budimex holds the contract, worth just under 146 million zloty.

Earthworks continue in parallel, as do tenders for the terminal and further infrastructure.

The airport is due to open in 2032, alongside the first high-speed rail line between Warsaw and Lodz, handling 34 to 44 million passengers a year at first.
