Riga Airport Begins Terminal Expansion Project
Riga Airport has officially launched the next phase of its passenger terminal expansion, which will add about 20,000 square metres of new space to increase capacity and improve passenger experience.

Riga Airport has marked the official start of the next stage of its passenger terminal expansion with a ceremonial event. The project will deliver a new, energy-efficient terminal extension with modern technologies to increase capacity, enhance passenger experience, and support future growth. Preparatory construction works are set to begin later this month.
The expansion includes new check-in facilities, waiting areas, a security screening zone, and a baggage reclaim hall. Access roads and parking will also be redeveloped and upgraded. Once completed, the project will add approximately 20,000 square metres of building space and 29,500 square metres of roads, pavements, public spaces, and landscaped green areas.
According to officials, the current terminal is already exceeding its designed capacity. Construction costs are estimated at around 98 million euros, with financing provided equally by three lenders.
