Rwandair adds fourth Airbus A330 as long-haul fleet expansion continues
Rwandair has taken delivery of a used Airbus A330-200 formerly flown by Oman Air, the first of five additional widebodies planned for its fleet.
Rwandair has expanded its long-haul fleet with the addition of a fourth Airbus A330. The aircraft, a 16-year-old A330-200 registered 9XR-WS, previously flew for Oman Air before being retired from that carrier's fleet in October. It arrived in Kigali on August 24 after flying in from Amman.
According to Rwandair, the jet is the first of five further A330s the airline plans to bring into its fleet. Before this addition, the carrier operated two A330-200s and one A330-300.
With the new arrival, Rwandair's total fleet grows to 15 aircraft. The airline has set a target of expanding to 29 aircraft by 2029, according to the carrier.
No further detail was given on the timeline for the remaining four A330s or on how the expansion fits into the carrier's wider route plans.
