RwandAir to add four A330-200s as it targets Europe and Far East routes
RwandAir plans to take four more Airbus A330-200s in the current financial year and is preparing to announce new destinations in Europe and the Far East.

RwandAir expects four more Airbus A330-200s within the current financial year, after taking a widebody in August 2026 that it called the first of five planned aircraft.
Chief commercial officer Reuben Mbonye laid out the growth plan in three parts at the Aviation Africa Summit in Nairobi on September 9 and 10, 2026. The airline wants to expand its fleet and its network, aiming for more destinations in Europe and the Far East.
The August aircraft was delivered on August 24, 2026. RwandAir's third A330 arrived in March 2023. Chief executive Yvonne Makolo said in April 2024 that the airline intended to double its fleet within five years and cut its aircraft types from five to three.
On staffing, Mbonye said RwandAir is investing in a graduate development programme called RISE, which brings high-potential Rwandan graduates into the airline and rotates them through key departments. It is part of building a leadership pipeline to match the airline's growth.
Mbonye also argued for partnerships, saying the airline does not fly everywhere but can serve passengers beyond its own network through such agreements. He pointed to a codeshare and interline agreement with EgyptAir signed on June 10, 2026, covering Cairo, Rome and Amman through Kigali.
