Schiphol opens five tenders ahead of €10bn renewal programme

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has put five contracts out to tender, seeking long-term construction and maintenance partners for an infrastructure renewal programme.

The airport says it will invest €10 billion in renewal and quality improvements between 2025 and 2035, including work on deferred maintenance. The tendered packages cover terminal buildings and the technical systems inside them, apron areas and operational buildings.

Named elements include passenger boarding bridges, power supply and pre-conditioned air at gates, charging points for electric equipment, climate control and fire stations.

Much of Schiphol's existing construction and maintenance contracting lapses in 2028. The new framework agreements are due to start that year and run for nine years, which the airport says gives it and its partners more room to plan and carry out the work.

Schiphol intends to take a larger role in overseeing its own infrastructure, including maintenance planning and asset performance. Contractors appointed through the frameworks would handle specialist construction and technical tasks.
