Somon Air will offer inflight entertainment for the first time, fitting its 737 MAX 8 fleet with Moment's Flymingo Box wireless streaming system.

The Tajikistani national carrier chose the entertainment, travel information and advertising modules of Moment's modular onboard platform. Passengers can stream video, play games, follow a moving map and view marketing campaigns the airline manages in-house. Moment will also serve as content service provider, with a catalogue of films, series, games and podcasts in Tajik, Russian and English.

The system runs on batteries, so it can be installed without modifying the aircraft, according to the company. Moment puts Flymingo Box runtime at 14 hours between charges, enough for a round trip from Somon Air's home base to any of its destinations.

Somon Air is mid-way through a fleet refresh, with eight 737 MAX 8 aircraft due over the coming months. The first was delivered in August. Service activation is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026 on the new planes.

Tanguy Morel, Moment's chief executive and co-founder, said airline capacity in Central Asia has grown by close to 500 percent over two decades, the fastest rate of any region.
