Swedavia airports report 3% passenger growth in August

Swedavia's ten airports handled over 3.3 million passengers in August 2026, a 3% increase year-on-year, driven by international travel.

More than 3.3 million passengers passed through Swedavia's ten airports in August 2026, a 3% rise on August 2025. International traffic led the growth, up 3% and back to pre-pandemic levels. Domestic numbers stayed stable despite reduced airline capacity compared with the previous year.

Stockholm Arlanda handled over 2.4 million passengers, up 2%. International traffic set a record for the second month running, rising just over 3% to 2.1 million. That beat the previous August record from 2018 by roughly 16,000 travellers. Domestic traffic fell 4% to just over 324,000.

Gothenburg Landvetter saw around 566,000 passengers, a 4% increase. International traffic grew 4% to 524,000, while domestic rose 11% to almost 42,000.

The other eight airports combined also grew, led by Malmö at 16% and Visby at 13%. Bromma handled just over 9,600 passengers, only 5% of its August 2019 level.

Swedavia said demand remained stable despite uncertainty in the Middle East and the coming winter season.
