Swiss A330 Diverts to St. John's for Medical Emergency

A Swiss Airbus A330-300 flying LX14 from Zurich to New York diverted to St. John's International Airport in Newfoundland after a passenger suffered a medical incident. The airline said the crew made the decision after the situation arose.
On approach, the pilots set transponder code 7700. Swiss said this was coordinated with local air traffic control and stressed that it was not an emergency landing. The aircraft, registered HB-JHK, spent about 90 minutes on the ground before continuing to New York JFK, arriving roughly two and a half hours late.
