Syrian Airlines has unveiled a new identity, showing an updated livery on an Airbus A320 at Damascus. The aircraft, registered YK-AKJ, has a dark green design in place of the blue worn during the carrier's years as Syrian Arab Airlines.

The repaint reflects the airline's development work since the fall of the Assad government. Fleet modernisation is part of that effort, and the aircraft is one of two A320s the carrier says it expects to take this year.

Syrian Airlines has also been rebuilding its route network, helped by sanctions relief after the 2024 overthrow of former president Bashar Al-Assad. The political change has brought other operators into the market.

FlyDar Aviation has received an air operator's certificate from Syria's civil aviation authority, making it the first private carrier approved since Assad's departure. FlyDar has not detailed its operations, but says it is launching as a low-cost airline based in Damascus. The company said it is committed to international safety and quality standards and intends to help develop air transport and cargo activity.
