Three firms picked to trial technology at Glasgow Airport

Connected Places Catapult has named three companies to test late-stage technologies at Glasgow Airport under a programme funded by Innovate UK.

Three companies will trial new technology at Glasgow Airport through the Connected Airport Living Lab, a programme run by Connected Places Catapult and now in its fourth year.

Funded by Innovate UK, the scheme lets small and medium-sized enterprises develop, test and demonstrate late-stage technologies inside a working airport. Organisers describe it as a structured, repeatable approach tied to airport procurement and operational realities, meant to speed up adoption and scaling of new ideas across UK airports. Glasgow Airport set three core challenges for applicants.

Beam Connectivity, Createc and Wordnerds were chosen. Each will work on technology aimed at one or more of those challenges.

Beam Connectivity plans to trial its Connectivity as a Service platform, which provides real-time visibility into the health and performance of assets, to help engineering teams.

Selected applicants receive 30,000 GBP in funding and bespoke commercial support, plus access to industry contacts and airport facilities for their trials.

Connected Places Catapult and Glasgow Airport run the programme together.
