Turkish Airlines and Ajet have temporarily suspended night flights to Ercan Airport in northern Cyprus over problems with the runway lighting.

Kürşat Hüdaverdioğlu, head of the air traffic controllers' union, said the lighting system's operability had fallen to 88 percent, according to the portal Hava Sosyal Media. The northern Cypriot civil aviation authority then issued a matching aviation notice.

Both carriers have paused flights between sunset and sunrise as a safety precaution. Work to fix the fault is under way.
