Air Corsica pilot strike grounds flights for a third day

A strike by pilots at Air Corsica has led to numerous cancellations since Friday, with the airline publishing a reduced schedule for Sunday and Monday.

A pilot strike at Air Corsica is in its third day, with the walkout having forced numerous flight cancellations. Members of the SNPL and SPAC unions stopped work on Friday, according to the airline's published schedule. The two organisations represent 140 pilots at the Corsican carrier. It is the first strike by cockpit crew at the regional airline.

Air Corsica has issued a reduced timetable for Sunday and Monday. Sunday departures are planned from Ajaccio, Bastia and Figari. On Monday, a flight from Calvi is due to leave at 8am for Nice, the first departure from that airport since the strike began.

The airline said it is taking additional measures to keep as many connections running as possible. Talks aimed at ending the dispute had been announced for the weekend.
