Uber wins exclusive pick-up zone at Western Sydney International Airport

Western Sydney International Airport and Uber have announced a partnership covering rideshare access to the new 24-hour airport, timed to the start of passenger services on October 25.

Under the arrangement, Uber will operate an exclusive pick-up zone about 100 metres from the terminal, with 10 kerbside bays. The airport says signage and wayfinding through the terminal and surrounding precinct will direct departing passengers to the area.

WSI chief executive Simon Hickey said the partnership adds to the transport options available to travellers, alongside driving, public bus links, taxi, car hire, private transfer and on-site parking. He said rideshare offers on-demand ordering with upfront costs and journey times, and that interest from local drivers has been strong, with work expected to grow as demand rises.

Cargo operations at the airport began on 27 July 2026. Passenger services are scheduled to start on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

The airport is described as Australia's first major international greenfield airport development in more than 50 years.
