Ukraine Likely Damages Second Russian Tu-95 Bomber at Engels-2

Satellite imagery suggests Ukraine has heavily damaged a second Russian Tupolev Tu-95 strategic bomber at Engels-2 air base within six weeks. A drone attack in late August tore off part of the aircraft's right wing behind the second engine, and the images indicate the bomber is permanently lost. Another Tu-95 was hit at the same base in July, its tail separated from the fuselage. The losses matter for Russia because no new Tu-95s have been built since 1992. Engels-2 is one of the few Russian bases equipped for maintenance, arming, and nuclear alert duties for the type.
