US Air Force orders four more Boeing MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters

Boeing has received an order for four additional MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters from the US Air Force, the first placed under full-rate production. The deal brings the contracted total to 42 aircraft.

Boeing has won an order from the US Air Force for four more MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters, according to the manufacturer. These are the first units ordered under full-rate production rather than earlier procurement phases.

The US Air Force had previously declared initial operational capability for the programme. With the new order, the number of MH-139A helicopters under contract rises to 42. Boeing has delivered 27 of them so far.

The helicopters are to be used, among other duties, to guard US strategic missile sites. Boeing and the service expect the shift to full-rate production to speed up the type's introduction into operational units.
