US Air Force seeks missile warning system for F-15EX fleet
The Air Force is canvassing industry for a missile launch and approach warning system for the F-15EX Eagle II, a capability the airframe was provisioned for but did not receive when it entered service.

The U.S. Air Force is looking for a missile warning system for its F-15EX Eagle II fleet, a capability the aircraft was built to accommodate but did not carry when it first entered service.
The F-15 System Program Office at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center issued a sources sought notice on Sept. 29, 2026, seeking industry information on an operationally qualified threat missile launch and approach warning system that could be integrated onto the F-15EX quickly.
The notice sits in the market research phase of the acquisition process, meaning the service has not committed to buying a system. It did not include performance requirements, a step the office took to avoid exposing classified information.
What the notice does disclose points to an effort to add the capability with relatively limited modification to the aircraft.
The F-15EX was designed with provisions for a missile warning system. Reporting at the time of the type's first flight in February 2021 noted that the aircraft carried the same mounting provisions used for the missile warning sensors fitted to the F-15QA and F-15SA. The sensors themselves were not installed on the Eagle II.
