Vietnam Airlines signs deals with Visa and AWS on digital services

Vietnam Airlines has expanded its cooperation with Visa and Amazon Web Services, signing a letter of intent with each.

The Visa agreement centres on Lotusmiles, the carrier's frequent flyer programme, which the airline wants to grow into a broader travel and lifestyle platform. The two sides also plan co-branded credit cards for Vietnamese and international markets and new digital payment options.

With AWS, the airline will work on artificial intelligence, cloud technology and data. AI and generative AI applications are to be examined for passenger services, flight operations, aircraft maintenance and data analysis. Cybersecurity is another topic, along with connectivity and on-board digital offerings.

Vietnam Airlines described both partnerships as part of its digital transformation. The letters of intent set out areas for cooperation. No financial terms, timelines or details on how far the work has progressed were given.
