Volaris A321neo returns to Las Vegas after bird strike damages engine
A Volaris Airbus A321neo bound for Guadalajara turned back to Las Vegas on Monday after a bird strike caused problems with its right engine, according to the airline.
A Volaris flight returned to Las Vegas on Monday, 14 September, after an incident during takeoff, the airline said. Flight Y4-1741 was headed for Guadalajara when a collision with a bird caused problems with the right engine of the Airbus A321neo, registered XA-VUA.
Flames were reportedly seen during the event.
The crew stayed in the air for about 40 minutes before landing the aircraft safely back in Las Vegas. Volaris provided a replacement aircraft, and passengers reached Guadalajara on 15 September.
The affected engine was later given a technical inspection.
