What happened
American Airlines Flight 383 is associated with two separate and significant aviation incidents that occurred decades apart. The first incident took place on May 25, 1965, when the aircraft crashed while attempting to land at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. This accident resulted in a catastrophic loss of life, with only four individuals surviving out of the sixty-two people aboard.
The second incident involving this flight number occurred much later, on October 28, 2016. During takeoff operations at Chicago O'Hare Airport, the aircraft experienced an uncontained engine failure. This mechanical issue led to a fire onboard the plane as it departed the runway.
