During a second landing attempt, a gust of wind caused the aircraft to lift off, yaw, then veer off the runway and hit a parked aircraft. The pilot reported variable wind 250-270° at 10 knots.

Event Description

On the pilot's first approach to land, a go-around was initiated after the aircraft floated too far down the runway. The second approach and landing appeared normal until a few seconds after touchdown. At that moment, the aircraft encountered a gust of wind, lifted off, and yawed into the wind. It immediately settled back onto the runway while still angled into the wind, then veered off the runway and collided with a parked aircraft.

Environmental Conditions

The pilot reported that the wind was variable from 250 to 270 degrees at approximately 10 knots. High trees along the left side of Runway 32 shielded the first third of the runway from winds out of the west. Approximately 18 miles away at Bellingham, Washington, the 1300 PDT wind was recorded from 310 degrees at 8 knots.
