Incident Details
The incident occurred at the conclusion of a student pilot's solo cross-country flight. Following a landing approach, the pilot attempted a go-around with the flaps fully extended.
Witness Accounts
Witnesses reported that the aircraft was higher than normal during the approach. They observed that after the aircraft had passed over more than half of the usable runway, the pilot initiated the go-around.
Pilot Statement
The pilot stated that during the go-around, the aircraft was in a full flap configuration. He indicated that he was unable to accelerate the aircraft sufficiently to retract the flaps.
Outcome
The aircraft stalled and nosed into a field adjacent to the runway.
