What happened
The accident occurred while the aircraft was established on final approach for landing. During this phase of flight, the instructor pilot observed that the indicated airspeed had decreased to a value below 55 knots. Recognizing the deteriorating situation, the instructor assumed control of the airplane from the student pilot.
To recover from the low-speed condition, the instructor applied forward pressure on the control yoke and simultaneously advanced the throttle to full power. Despite these corrective actions, the aircraft could not be stabilized. The instructor subsequently lost control of the airplane, which entered an uncontrolled descent and collided with the terrain.
