What happened
The incident occurred when the private pilot was operating a private flight. During the landing roll, the pilot applied the brakes to slow the aircraft. At this point, control of the airplane was lost. The aircraft departed the left side of the runway surface and collided with a drainage ditch located adjacent to the pavement.
The impact caused the nose landing gear to collapse. Following the collapse of the front strut, the airplane nosed over and came to rest in an inverted position on the ground. There were no reports of injuries to the occupants during this event.
The investigation
Following the accident, investigators conducted a detailed examination of the aircraft's brake system to determine if mechanical failure contributed to the loss of control. The inspection revealed no anomalies within the braking components or hydraulic lines that would explain the sudden loss of directional control during the rollout.
