Event Sequence
The pilot-in-command (PIC) was conducting a landing with full flaps deployed. During the approach, the pilot-rated passenger reported observing another airplane on a simultaneous approach to an intersecting runway. The PIC responded by initiating a go-around.
Go-Around Execution
The PIC applied full power, turned left, and retracted the flaps to 20 degrees. However, the airplane did not establish a climb. As a result, the left wing of the airplane struck trees bordering the runway, and the airplane crashed.
Circumstances
The event occurred during a landing attempt. The presence of the other airplane on an intersecting approach prompted the go-around. The sequence of actions—power application, left turn, and flap retraction—did not result in a successful climb, leading to the collision with trees and subsequent crash.
