Event Description
While en route, the pilot received information that the VOR at his destination was inoperative. As he approached the area, the VOR was turned on, making it available to fly the approach. The pilot, worried that the VOR would only be active for a short period, stated that he "hurried the approach from that moment on."
Approach
During the execution of the approach, the airplane collided with something that the pilot initially believed to be birds. The pilot continued the approach and proceeded to land.
Post-Landing Examination
After landing, the pilot performed a visual check of the airplane for any damage. He found debris that was later identified as remnants from a tree strike.
