Accident Details
The airplane collided with the terrain following a loss of control while landing. After touchdown, the airplane bounced and veered to the left. The pilot applied power to initiate a go-around, but the airplane continued to veer left. The left wing then contacted the ground, causing the airplane to spin around before coming to rest on a northerly heading.
Pilot Report
The pilot reported that the approach was made from the north for a landing on runway 18. The winds were described as fine until the airplane was approximately one mile from the airport, at which point the winds became gusty. The approach was flown with flaps down at an airspeed of 80 knots. The pilot did not specify any mechanical issues or other contributing factors.
Weather
An airport weather observation taken 10 minutes prior to the accident reported the wind as 240 degrees at 10 knots. No other weather conditions were noted in the source.
