Accident
On January 11, 2008, at about 1625 UTC, a Cessna 210M, registration V5-GWH, operated by Atlantic Aviation as a charter flight, reportedly lost engine power after takeoff from Eros Airport in Windhoek, Namibia. The airplane subsequently crashed in a residential area and struck a dwelling. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.
The pilot and five passengers were fatally injured in the crash. The aircraft was destroyed and consumed by a post-crash fire. The flight was destined for an airstrip at Mokuti Lodge, near Tsumeb, Namibia.
Investigation
The investigation is being conducted by the Namibia Directorate of Accident Investigations, based in Windhoek, Namibia. The US Accredited Representative is Dennis L. Jones, from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in Washington, D.C. (telephone: 202-314-6321). No probable cause has been determined at this stage of the investigation.
