Incident
On April 9, 2009, at approximately 1030 UTC, a Cirrus SR-22 operating as a personal flight collided with high terrain at an elevation of about 6700 feet near Tizintichka, Morocco. The aircraft was on a domestic VFR flight plan from Marrakech to Ouarzazate. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.
Injuries and Damage
The pilot and three passengers sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was destroyed in the impact.
Investigation
The investigation is being conducted by the Administration de l’Air of Morocco. Under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, as the state of manufacture, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a U.S. Accredited Representative to support the investigation.
