Incident Overview
On January 3, 2010, at approximately 1430 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the pilots of Meridiana Airlines flight 193 detected an odor resembling burning plastic while the aircraft was on the ground with the auxiliary power unit (APU) operating. The aircraft, a Boeing MD-80 registered as I-SMEB, was located at Turin-Caselle Airport in Torino, Italy.
Response and Crew
No evacuation was conducted, and there were no reported injuries among the six crew members on board.
