What happened
On September 21, 2010, a Grumman G-164B was performing an aerial application flight over a cotton field near Blessing, Texas. During the application of the load, the pilot lost awareness of the aircraft's proximity to nearby obstacles and struck a transmission wire.
The collision caused substantial damage to the aircraft's rudder and vertical fin. Following the impact, the pilot lost control of the N8157K, and the airplane subsequently impacted a small body of water. The pilot sustained one serious injury and was the sole occupant of the aircraft.
