Accident Details
According to the pilot, two prior attempts to land had been unsuccessful. On the third approach, the airplane was high and fast, but the pilot continued the landing. The airplane touched down long on the runway and overran the end, subsequently striking a fence. The impact caused the nose landing gear to collapse, resulting in substantial damage to the firewall and fuselage.
Post-Accident Examination
Following the accident, an inspector from the Federal Aviation Administration examined the wreckage. The inspection did not reveal any preimpact mechanical malfunctions. Additionally, the pilot did not report any mechanical failures or malfunctions before the accident that would have precluded normal operation.
