What happened
On September 24, 2012, at approximately 0400 local time, a Cessna 210L, registered as PT-KSB, crashed shortly after departing Pouso Da Aguilia Airport (SWPD) in Roraima, Brazil. The flight began approximately one minute before the accident occurred. No flight plan had been filed for the departure.
At the time of the accident, weather conditions were visual meteorological conditions (VMC) with winds at 210 degrees at 03 knots. An airport employee reported hearing the aircraft descending and subsequently observing fire in the direction of the descent. The aircraft impacted the ground approximately 900 meters from the approach threshold of runway 24. The impact and a subsequent post-crash fire caused substantial damage to the aircraft. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained 1 fatal injury.
