Incident Overview
The Civil Aviation Authority Safety Investigation Board of Pakistan (CAAP) has notified the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of an incident involving a Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC) Airbus A-310-308, registration AP-BEB. The aircraft is powered by General Electric CF6-80C2A8 turbofan engines.
While taking off from Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) in Karachi, Pakistan, the No.1 engine experienced a compressor stall. The flight crew returned the airplane to JIAP, where a safe landing was performed.
Investigation
In accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, the NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the CAAP investigation, as the United States is the State of Manufacturer of the engines. No further details have been released at this time.
