What happened
On December 20, 2012, at 15:23 UTC, a Bell UH-1H helicopter, registered HB-RXC, was performing a non-scheduled cross-country flight from Buchs, Switzerland, to St-Gallen-Altenrhein, Switzerland. During the flight, the aircraft experienced an engine malfunction, which led to the helicopter impacting terrain near Ruthi, Switzerland.
At the time of the accident, the weather was characterized by visual meteorological conditions. The aircraft was destroyed upon impact. Of the occupants on board, the pilot and two passengers were not injured, while a third passenger sustained minor injuries.
