What happened
On May 13, 2014, at approximately 1650 UTC, a Cessna 210N, registered as PT-WHT, was landing at Sinop Airport (SWSI) in Sinop, Mato Grosso, Brazil. The flight had originated from Claudia, Mato Grosso. During the landing phase, the aircraft sustained substantial damage. There were no injuries reported for the pilot or the three passengers on board.
The investigation
The investigation, conducted by the Aeronautical Accident Prevention and Investigation Center (CENIPA), determined that the nosegear actuator failed during the landing sequence. This mechanical failure caused the propeller and the lower portion of the fuselage to make contact with the runway.
