What happened
On September 1, 2015, at approximately 1925 UTC, a Bell 206L-3, registration HK 3311, was conducting an originating flight from the Municipality of Chita, Boyaca, Colombia, to Tunja Airport (SKTJ). During the takeoff phase, the pilot received a low main rotor warning. In response, the pilot maneuvered the aircraft for a forced landing in a nearby field.
The helicopter landed hard, resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft. There were 3 minor injuries involving the commercial pilot and two passengers; there were no fatalities.
At the time of the accident, weather conditions were within visual meteorological conditions (VMC) with a visibility of 6 statute miles and winds from 320 degrees at 4 knots.
