Accident Overview
On June 29, 2025, at 1033 mountain daylight time, a Piper PA-24-260 (registration N9366P) was substantially damaged during a landing gear collapse at West Yellowstone, Montana. The aircraft was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight, and the pilot reported no injuries.
Sequence of Events
According to the pilot, the flight was a cross-country journey. Approximately 100 miles from the destination, the aircraft experienced a total electrical failure. The pilot decided to continue to the airport. During the approach to landing, the landing gear was lowered. However, during the landing roll on runway 1, the landing gear collapsed, causing the airplane to slide to a stop on the runway.

The fuselage sustained substantial damage as a result of the gear collapse and subsequent slide. The aircraft was retained for examination following the accident.
