What happened
On July 26, 2025, at 18:40 CDT, a Piper PA-28RT-201T, registration N8423H, was involved in an accident near Brookings, South Dakota. The flight was being operated by TURBO ARROW LLC under 14 CFR Part 91 for work use.
While climbing from runway 12 at Brookings Regional Airport (BKX), the pilot noticed the fuel flow gauge was fluctuating. In response, the pilot decided to return to the airport for a precautionary landing and entered the left downwind for runway 17. During this period, the engine continued to run without abnormal sounds or other instrument indications. However, as the pilot completed the turn from base to final for runway 17, the aircraft suffered a total loss of engine power. The pilot performed a forced landing into a field, during which the aircraft struck a fence.
The pilot and passenger were not injured. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the left wing and both wing flaps.
