What happened
On 27 November 2024, a Boeing 737-400 operated by Nolinor Aviation was performing an instrument flight rules (IFR) flight from Québec/Jean-Lesage International Airport to Bagotville Airport. The aircraft was carrying 87 passengers and 7 crew members.
During the approach to Bagotville, the flight crew encountered a technical issue involving a flap. In response to this malfunction, the crew declared an emergency and elected to divert the flight to Montreal International Airport (Mirabel).
Upon landing on Runway 24 at Mirabel, the aircraft was in a state of deceleration with its flaps retracted. During this phase, the left main landing gear collapsed, causing the left engine to make contact with the runway surface. The aircraft proceeded down the runway, supported by the engine on the left side, before coming to a halt. Emergency responders and firefighting services were dispatched to the scene immediately following the crew's distress call.
The investigation
The TSB is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the landing gear failure and the subsequent runway excursion. While the aircraft suffered major damage, there was no fire during the incident. All passengers and crew members were evacuated via emergency slides, and no injuries were reported.
