What happened

During a local training mission operating out of Smolensk-Severny Airbase, a four-engine aircraft lost control and impacted the ground. The descent ended when the plane struck a silage pit situated approximately 500 meters south of Senkovo village, which is located roughly 53 km north of the Smolensk airbase.

The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were no survivors among the nine crew members on board at the time of the accident.
