What happened
On the date of the accident, an aircraft operated on behalf of the KGB/Border Guard departed from Petrel-Burevestnik Airport, bound for Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The flight was carrying a total of nine people, consisting of six crew members and three passengers.
During the climb phase following takeoff, air traffic control issued an instruction to the crew to execute a left turn. While performing this maneuver, the aircraft collided with the slope of Mt Medvezhonok. The impact occurred near the peak of the mountain, with the wreckage discovered approximately 10 meters below the summit. The accident resulted in nine fatalities, with no survivors reported among the occupants.
