What happened
A flight operating from Kuweires-Rasin El Aboud Airbase was en route to Hmeimim AFB when the accident occurred. The aircraft, a RF-92955 (52 red), was transporting 33 passengers along with a crew of six. As the aircraft was performing its final approach, it became uncontrollable and struck the ground approximately 500 meters before reaching the runway. The impact caused the plane to burst into flames. All 39 fatalities were recorded among the total number of occupants on board.
Findings
Investigations into the crash indicate that the aircraft experienced a loss of control during the short final phase of flight. This loss of control is attributed to low level windshear encountered near the ground.
