Accident Details
The accident occurred while the aircraft was descending to Ölgii Airport. The crew encountered poor weather conditions when the aircraft struck the slope of Mt Marz, located in the Hangayn Nuruu Mountain Range. The impact caused the aircraft to disintegrate. All 32 occupants on board were killed.
Probable Cause
According to the official investigation, the probable cause was controlled flight into terrain after the crew initiated the descent prematurely, causing the aircraft to descend below the minimum prescribed altitude. Poor visibility due to poor weather conditions was identified as a contributing factor.
