Incident Overview
A cargo aircraft operating a service from Goma to Kongolo experienced an incident upon landing at Kongolo Airport. The airplane was carrying a crew of five and a load of cigarettes.
Sequence of Events
During the flight, approximately 30 kilometers from the destination, the crew reported technical problems. Despite the issue, they continued the approach. After touching down at Kongolo Airport, the aircraft was unable to stop within the remaining runway distance. It overran the runway and came to rest in a grassy area. The undercarriage collapsed during the overrun, and the right engine caught fire.
Aftermath
All five crew members evacuated the aircraft and escaped uninjured. No injuries were reported among the crew.
