What happened

During a night-time flight from Kipelovo Air Force Base in the Vologda oblast to Lakhta Air Force Base, located south of Arkhangelsk, a military aircraft crashed while attempting to land. As the crew was performing the final approach phase of the flight, they encountered adverse weather conditions. This led to the aircraft making contact with the ground a few hundred yards before reaching the runway threshold.
