What happened
A flight operating between Přerov and Ostrava, which included a scheduled stop in Hranice, resulted in a fatal accident during its final approach. While the crew was descending toward Ostrava-Mošnov Airport, the aircraft encountered heavy fog that significantly reduced visibility. During this phase of flight, the plane descended below a safe altitude and collided with trees. The impact caused the aircraft to burst into flames in a prairie area situated in Hůrka, approximately 15 kilometers southwest of the airport.
Findings
- The aircraft was destroyed upon impact.
- There were 10 fatalities among the occupants of the plane.
- Reduced visibility caused by fog prevented the crew from maintaining a safe altitude above the terrain.
