A twin-engine aircraft made an emergency landing in the Bay of Tracadie after losing power on both engines during a return to base. All four crew members survived the incident without injury.

What happened

The flight originated from Charlottetown Airport as part of a ground reconnaissance exercise. While cruising approximately 129 km from the airbase, the crew experienced mechanical issues with the right engine, resulting in a loss of power. The pilot initiated a return to base but encountered further complications during the descent phase when the starboard engine stopped completely.

With both engines inoperative and the aircraft losing altitude rapidly, the crew was unable to reach a suitable clear landing area on land. Consequently, the pilot executed a forced landing on the water surface of the Bay of Tracadie. All four individuals aboard the aircraft escaped the accident uninjured.
