What happened
Following a delay at Corrientes-Camba Punta caused by unfavorable weather, an aircraft departed in the evening. During the initial climb phase, the flight encountered severe meteorological conditions characterized by heavy turbulence and cumulonimbus clouds.
As the aircraft navigated these storms, it experienced a sudden loss of stability, resulting in a 90-degree left bank followed by a 45-degree nose-down pitch. The plane subsequently entered a rapid descent, striking a palm grove near Loma Alta at approximately 400 km/h. The impact occurred roughly 35 km southwest of Corrientes. Search teams located the debris field the following morning.
Findings
The impact was so violent that the airframe disintegrated upon hitting the ground. There were no survivors in the accident, with a total of 37 fatalities recorded. The investigation concluded that the primary factor was the loss of control resulting from the encounter with extreme turbulence and convective activity.
