What happened

Shortly after departing from Florencia-Gustavo Artunduica Paredes Airport, a twin engine airplane entered a collision with the terrain. The accident occurred approximately ten minutes into the flight while the aircraft was in its climbing phase. At the time of the incident, weather conditions were reported as marginal.

The aircraft struck the side of Mt Gabinete, which has an elevation of 3,500 meters, at a location situated roughly 34 km northwest of Florencia. Search efforts located the debris field within a forested area approximately 200 meters below the mountain's summit. There were 32 fatalities recorded, with no survivors found at the site.
